Apart from Finland, S\u00e1mis live in Norway, Russia and Sweden.<\/p>\n<p>In Finland, the S\u00e1mi area consists of northern Lapland. Municipalities of Inari, Utsjoki, Enonteki\u00f6 and northern Sodankyl\u00e4 are considered as the S\u00e1mi Homeland. In Finland, the S\u00e1mi speak three languages: North S\u00e1mi, Inari S\u00e1mi and Skolt S\u00e1mi, which are different enough for the speakers to struggle to understand each other.<\/p>\n<p>Even today, traditional S\u00e1mi livelihoods help to maintain the language in a living culture. The S\u00e1mi Museum, S\u00e1mi Cultural Centre and S\u00e1mi parliament are located in Inari. &nbsp;Utsjoki is Finland\u2019s only municipality with a majority of S\u00e1mi population. The purpose of the S\u00e1mi Cultural Centre Sajos is to create better possibilities for the S\u00e1mi in Finland to preserve and develop their own language, culture and business activities as well as to manage and develop their cultural self-government and to support the development of their general living conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Sajos can be visited during opening hours. The Heritage House is open in the summertime and it is free for visitors. It is located next to the Orthodox Church and its cemetery.
