Roadbook
A hiker heading to Luulampi can immediately enter fell terrain when leaving from Kiilopää. The difficulty of the route is increased by ascents and descents. The trail winds along the northern slope of Kiilopää. The open fell landscape rewards the traveler, even though the trail does not lead to the highest peak. Along a fell brook, the route descends to a reindeer fence gate, from which there are only a couple of hundred meters to the Luulampi hut. A highlight of the route is the area around Luulampi, where Stone Age dwelling remains have been found. Hikers are asked to stay only on existing trails in the Luulampi area. When departing Luulampi back to Kiilopää, one ascends the fell slope for about 2 km and arrives again at the reindeer fence. From the reindeer fence to Kiilopää is about 2.5 km. A bridge crosses the head branch of Kiilo creek, and there are boardwalks in wet areas at the end of the trail. In some hiking maps, the reindeer herding cooperative boundary fence is not marked. However, as long as you stay on the marked trail, there is no risk of getting lost. The route can be done in both directions; the route description is planned for counterclockwise hiking. In winter, the southern part of the marked route serves as a ski trail. If you want to extend your hike, you can easily combine other routes with it.
