The Ukko-Luosto peak rewards the climber! The 575 steps of Ukko-Luosto stairs bring the traveler to the Ukko-Luosto peak and the viewing platform, which opens up splendid distant views to the Pyhänlatva mire and in the direction of the Pyhä fell chain. From the Ukko-Luosto viewing platform, the journey continues along the fell’s summit northwards to the Ukko-Luosto scenic hut. At the scenic hut, the traveler can rest in the warmth of the hut while enjoying the views and a small nature exhibition which introduces the annual cycle of fell nature and natural light phenomena. From the scenic hut, the route continues back to Luosto Gate via Tikkalaavu.

The route can be traveled in both directions; the route description is clockwise. The Ukko-Luosto peak loop starts from Luosto Gate, initially following a ski track path through Hopukankuusikko, arriving at the base of the stairs leading to the fell's summit. The 575 steps of Ukko-Luosto stairs lead the traveler to the Ukko-Luosto peak and the viewing platform, which offers a memorable view towards Siurunaapa. At the Ukko-Luosto peak, the route continues north to the Ukko-Luosto scenic hut and returns via the Luosto hiking nature trail through Tikkalaavu back to Luosto Gate. The total length of the route is about 6.5 kilometers. The route is marked in the terrain with blue squares attached to trees and poles.
If you wish, you can shorten the distance by returning from the peak the same way, i.e., down the stairs, back to Luosto Gate. This makes the total length about 5 kilometers.
The Ukko-Luosto peak route is not maintained in winter, but the section going via Tikkalaavu to the northern slope of the fell, the Ukko-Luosto scenic hut, and further on to Torvinen’s Cabin is marked as a snowshoeing route in winter.

There is a bus connection from trains and the airport (matkahuolto.fi) to Pyhä-Luosto. The nearest bus stop is located in Luosto center right next to the starting point of the route.

Pyhä-Luosto National Park is located in East Lapland, about 115 km from Rovaniemi to Luosto and about 70 km from Kemijärvi to Luosto (road no. 962). From the north, about 40 kilometers from Sodankylä's Torvinen (road no. 962). The nearest airport is in Rovaniemi and the railway station in Kemijärvi.Parking
The Luosto Gate parking area is located in connection with the Luosto ski resort. There is space for about 200 cars and the parking lot is also maintained in winter. Route signs start from Luosto Gate at the southeast corner of the parking area right next to the ski bridge.Coordinates
